Curious about Botox? So was I…

Hi there! I am Lola, friend of the Aspire MedSpa & Beauty Bar team. You are probably reading this because you were curious about Botox. Maybe you want to try it and want to learn more and ensure it is safe and it will not make you look “frozen”. Well, you are in the right place.

My personal experience

I try to take care of my skin, to eat right and exercise but we all know we cannot defeat aging. What we can do, is to age GRACEFULLY. So I decided to look into getting Botox.

I am a bit of a hypochondriac, so I had a lot of fears and reservations about Botox. I read and read, checked reviews and even went on to read technical data from their manufacturer. In the end, I YOLO’ed it and decided to make my appointment.

I bombarded the injector with a mile-long list of questions I had in my cellphone notes. Does it hurt? What is the risk? Are there any interactions with other drugs? What if I don’t like it? WHAT IF MY FACE IS FROZEN FOREVER?! The injector (master injector) was extremely patient and answered all my questions. I felt comfortable and confident with her honesty and decided to get my very first Botox injections.

What was it like? Does it hurt?

I googled and called a few MedSpas for Botox in Tampa and arrived at Aspire MedSpa & Beauty Bar and Rosaly, who is a master injector and trainer (she trains doctors…yes!) was so nice and made me feel so comfortable. Once in my appointment, Rosaly oriented me in depth as to what is Botox and what it does and was very patient. I was nervous but she was always concerned about me and was attentive the whole procedure.

The whole procedure took about five minutes. Once she was done I was like… that’s… it? I had a few tiny mosquito bite-looking marks on my forehead that disappeared in about twenty minutes. The spa looked beautiful and the service I received was excellent!

I went home and didn’t think much about the procedure. Rosaly from Aspire MedSpa & Beauty Bar gave me instructions to follow for the next 4 hours but honestly, I forgot I even had the procedure once I made it home.

I started to see the effects around the 3rd day, but the full effects took about one week to show up. When they did, I was legit AMAZED!! My forehead was smooth and glowy and did not look weird! However, my frown lines looked harsher so I went back to Rosaly to get this taken care of. I went in for a touch-up and got a few more units between my frown lines and OMG –I looked so refreshed and relaxed – basically me but after a really good sleep and facial. I loved it! My skin even looked smoother and had everybody telling me “you look great…I don’t know exactly why, but you look great!”.

So, what is Botox?

Botox, or Botulinum toxin type A, is a commercial neurotoxin that reduces muscle movement and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Botox works by paralyzing the muscle (I know, it sounds a bit scary, but Botox has been around forever and is heavily studied and backed by a ton of data!) so the skin does not fold and a wrinkle does not form.

What’s the difference between Botox and fillers?

Botox prevents muscle contractions, which prevents the formation of wrinkles and lines. Fillers like Juvederm and Restylane are used to FILL those lines in order to hide the wrinkles – they don’t prevent wrinkles. Botox prevents the wrinkles from forming in the first place, so you won’t have to fill them later on.

What is the cost?

Botox’s cost is by the unit. Check with Aspire here to get a call back to answer all your questions and don’t forget to check their specials for great pricing! People generally need about 25 units but everybody is different, with different needs so I strongly recommend you give them a call for an accurate quote.

What are Botox’s pre and post-treatment instructions?

Before getting Botox, avoid Retin-A, waxing, Aspirin, Ibuprofen, herbal supplements, and Omega-3 capsules for a few days to prevent topical reactions and bruising.

After Botox, it’s possible you will experience light bruising (I’ve barely had this though). You can apply an ice pack if you need, but I haven’t found it necessary. Avoid exercise and direct sunlight for the day.

In conclusion, my experience with Rosaly at Aspire and with Botox was and still is fantastic. They have the best specials and did I say Rosaly trains doctors on injecting Botox in Tampa and all over the world? Since that first procedure, I get a touch-up every 4-5 months and have no regrets. When I start seeing those wrinkles coming back, I absolutely look forward to getting Botox.
