What are the symptoms of B12 deficiency?
Vitamin B12 deficiency can slowly develop and cause symptoms to appear gradually and even intensify over time. There is an array of symptoms a vitamin B12 deficiency can cause, the condition can also be overlooked or even confused for other deficiency’s or conditions. Vitamin B12 deficiency symptoms can include:
- Strange sensations like numbness, or tingling in the heads, legs and/or feet
- Difficulty walking by staggering or issues with balance
- Swollen or inflamed tongue
- Difficulty thinking and even reasoning or memory loss
While our experienced physicians here at Aspire MedSpa and Beauty Bar are able to notice these symptoms and detect and diagnose a vitamin B12 deficiency with a consultation appointment, you may also require a blood test to confirm the diagnosis.
Early detection and treatment of B12 deficiency is important, and if left untreated, B12 deficiency can cause severe neurologic issues and blood diseases.
What is vitamin B12 good for?
Vitamin B12 is a nutrient supplement that helps to keep your body’s blood and nerve cells healthy and also helps to make DNA, which is the genetic material in all of your cells. Vitamin B12 also helps to prevent megaloblastic anemia, a blood condition that can make people tired and weak.
The amount of vitamin B12 you may need each day will vary depending on your age. Vitamin B12 injections are available at Aspire MedSpa and Beauty Bar and offer benefits like increasing energy levels, brain function, weight loss and so much more just to name a few.
Vitamin B12 injections play a vital role in helping your brain to function and the production of DNA and red blood cells, and can be very effective especially to those who live a vegan or vegetarian lifestyle as they don’t get the natural vitamin b12 in the foods they eat regularly.
How long does a B12 shot last?
Vitamin B12 injections usually last around a month if you do not have a vitamin B12 deficiency. However, if your blood test results come back showing you have a B12 deficiency, our providers will need to customize a treatment plan specifically for you and tailored to your specific needs and goals.
For many of our patients, a monthly vitamin B12 injection helps boost their energy levels and gives them a multitude of other benefits to help them along their health journey and allows them more freedom than that of a daily vitamin pill. It’s easy to pre-book your appointments, and the appointment time for the injection takes no more than around 15 minutes to complete, making it a fast and easy solution to help with your vitamin B12 deficiency.
How often should B12 injections be given?
While each individuals deficiency may be different it is highly recommended that vitamin B12 injections be done at 100 mcg daily for the first week, then every other day for the second week, every three to four days for the next month. Thereafter, your B12 deficiency should be under control and you should only need a recommended dose of 100 mcg injected once a month for life.
Like previously stated, it will depend on the severity of the deficiency in each individual, and from there we can customize a plan that will work best for you and your Vitamin B12 treatment.
